Biography
Benjamin SALEM (b. 1969) has a mixed background; he received a Diploma of Archi tecture, Dip. Arch. (1992) and a Master, M.Arch. (1993). He then pursued post-gradu ate education in Electronics with a doctorate Ph.D. (2003) on hand gesture analysis. He has been involved during his career into various projects dealing with hardware platforms (robots, interaction devices, sensors...) and the development of novel ap plications (VR in Art & Design, Virtual Theatre, Kansei Entertainment).
He has worked in England, The Netherlands and Japan. Currently he is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial Design, Eindhoven University of Technology.
Expertise
Due to his mixed background in architecture and electronic engineering, Ben has expertise in a variety of topics, product design, interactive systems, games, and game controllers. He is currently focusing on responsive environments and ambient intelligence, serious games and game controllers as well as design theory (innovation and aesthetic).
Current interests
Ben current interests are mainly focusing on three areas: ambient intelligence (responsive environments and user experience), game (serious gaming, game controllers and game design), and design (innovation, theory and aesthetic).
